Do I have to get down on the floor?
Some Steps exercises use the floor, and we teach you a safe, chair-supported way to get down and back up, step by step, with a helper the first few times if you like. If the floor isn't for you yet, every floor exercise has a bed or seated option.
Do I need equipment?
No gym. For Steps, you need a sturdy chair, a wall or counter, and the band we send you. A low step, a bag or water jug, and a cushion are handy but optional.
I have bad knees, hips or a sore back. Can I do it?
Every strength exercise has a seated or supported option. If something flares up, drop a level or use the seated option; sharp pain means stop. Complete the PAR-Q+ and check with your doctor if you have any health conditions or answer yes to any question.
How long are the sessions?
Steps runs 8 weeks. You start at 3 days a week for 20–25 minutes and build to 4 days a week for 30–40 minutes. Short on time or energy? Start with 10 minutes.
I use a cane or walker. Can I join?
Steps has cane- and walker-friendly options. If you can get up from a chair, even with a little help, you can start. Steps is for people who can stand with support. If you can't stand at all, it isn't the right fit yet.
Am I too old or too out of shape?
No. Steps starts from the very beginning and builds up gently, week by week.
What if I miss a week?
No problem. Just repeat the last week you finished, then carry on from there.
Will I be sore?
Mild soreness for a day or two is normal, especially at the start. Sharp pain isn't. If something feels sharp, stop.
How much space do I need?
Enough room to lie down with your arms stretched out, or almost none if you use the bed or seated options.
Do I need my doctor's OK?
Complete the PAR-Q+, the standard pre-exercise health questionnaire, and check with your doctor if you answer yes to any question.
How will I know I'm improving?
You'll do a simple test in week 1 and retest in week 8, so you can see your progress for yourself.
What comes after Steps?
8 courses, 8 weeks each, taken in order. Each course builds on the last. Steps is the first.
How much does it cost?
Standard is CA$34.99 a month or CA$349 a year. Premium is CA$89 a month or CA$890 a year and adds a 1-on-1 starting assessment, a monthly 30-minute video check-in, personalized modifications and priority support by message between calls.
